    裴宪中，号少翁，著名长城山水画家。生于1946年，河北省乐亭县人，国家一级美术师。自幼酷爱书画，勤奋好学，多方拜师求艺、积几十年学习与实践经验，集美术、书法、摄影等技艺于一身。现为河北美协会员、中国书画家协会理事、中国武术家书画协会副主席等国内十几个艺术社团(协会、研究会)成员，培训各类学员1800余人。

    我画长城，是因为我爱长城。“悠悠五万里，浩气贯古今”的中国长城，是我们中华民族的象征，是我们中华民族的灵魂。她不仅属于我们中华民族，而且她也属于全世界全人类。“千秋烽火息干戈，万里浩气化国魂”。长城作为古代战争的防御工事，早已失去了防御的作用，而她那可歌可泣的动人故事却仍在世世代代传颂。长城在大山大水之间，多少经文典故、古圣先贤、英雄事迹都从这长城古道而来。长城是历史，长城是文化、长城是奇迹、长城是力量。近百年以来，长城以她特有的精神，鼓舞着中华儿女奋斗，听《义勇军进行曲》：起来！......把我们的血肉筑成我们新的长城......看长城上抗日的烽火熊熊燃烧......“不到长城非好汉”！红军二万五千里长征创人类奇迹：“万里长城永不倒！”中华儿女前赴后继、百折不挠，终于取得了胜利，使中华民族挺立于世界民族之林！我爱长城，我爱祖国，我要以画笔描绘她，歌颂她。这就是我画长城的初衷。

    “师法造化，中得心源”，我遵循着中国绘画的这一传统理念，画长城、走长城。我从二十岁开始就喜欢画长城，多年来，我的足迹遍及燕山山脉上的山海关、八达岭、黄崖关、金山岭......以及无数不是景点的古长城遗址。我多方拜师交友，买画册、拍照片、写生......一切为了画好长城。

    "Learn from nature, get the heart." I follow the traditional concept of Chinese painting, painting and walking the Great Wall.     经过“废画三千”的长期探索，自以为有所进步，但仍感到不成熟。面对万里长城思绪万千，怎样表现她的博大、深远、气魄是我的追求。好多著名画家老师和朋友都说“长城难画”，而我想“修长城难不？我要以修长城的精神画长城，何难之有？”我的创作方法，没有固定格式。我常借古鉴今、融汇中西、洋为中用、古为今用、法无定法、不拘一格，或用传统笔墨、或采西画优点。春夏秋冬、阴霾雨雪，色彩、构图、笔法各有不同，只要多数人认可，我就高兴。这正是：莫道老来无所能，白发少翁做学童，读书交友行天下，上下求索画长城。 (摘取《乐亭书画史料初编》第五部分)
